License Activation

How to activate your WP Comply Pro license, manage sites, and troubleshoot activation issues.

Finding your license key

After purchasing WP Comply Pro, your license key is delivered in two ways:

  1. Thank-you page: Immediately after payment, you’ll see your license key and a download link on the confirmation page
  2. Email: Paddle (our payment processor) sends a receipt email containing your license key and download link. The same email also contains a personal link to your Paddle customer portal, where you can view your license key at any time

Your license key looks like this: sub_01XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Activating your license

  1. Install and activate the WP Comply Pro plugin
  2. In WordPress admin, go to WP Comply → Settings → License
  3. Enter your license key in the License Key field
  4. Click Activate
  5. You’ll see a green “License Active” confirmation

Deactivating a license

To move your license to a different site or free up an activation slot:

What happens after purchase

  2. Install: Download and install the Pro plugin ZIP
  3. Activate: Enter your license key in plugin settings
  4. Scan: Run your first scan to see Pro features in action

Managing your subscription

All subscription management is handled through Paddle. Open the customer portal link included in any Paddle receipt email to:

  • Update payment method
  • Cancel subscription
  • View and download invoices (including VAT receipts)

To upgrade your plan, contact us at [email protected] — we’ll prorate the difference for the remaining time on your subscription.

Troubleshooting

”Invalid license key”

  • Verify you copied the full key, including the sub_ prefix
  • Check for trailing spaces
  • Ensure you’re using the Pro plugin (not the free version from WordPress.org)

“Activation limit reached”

  • You’ve used all activation slots for your plan
  • Deactivate an existing site first (from the WP Comply → License screen on that site), or upgrade your plan
  • If you can’t access an old site, contact us at [email protected] and we’ll free the slot for you

”License expired”

  • Your annual subscription has ended
  • Renew through the customer portal link in your most recent Paddle receipt email
  • The plugin continues to work but stops receiving updates and Pro features are disabled
